Sarah Tueting is a two-time Olympic medalist, graduate of Dartmouth College and Stanford Graduate School of Business, mom, friend, businesswoman, thinking partner, writer, and lover of life. She grew up in Winnetka, IL, a suburb north of Chicago. She was the only female on the New Trier High School state championship winning men’s varsity hockey team, of which she was named MVP; captain of the women’s varsity soccer team, played cello in two orchestras, and was National Merit Scholar.
At Dartmouth College, Sarah studied Neuroscience, was goalie for the women’s hockey team, and played cello in the Dartmouth Symphony Orchestra. In 1996 Sarah left school to train for the 1998 Olympics in Nagano, Japan where she and her teammates won the first Women’s Olympic Hockey gold medals. She returned to Dartmouth and graduated Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and a Rufus Choate Scholar with a B.A. in Neuroscience. In 2002, she and her team won a silver medal at the Olympics in Salt Lake City. After a sojourn to India and Nepal to study yoga and meditation, Sarah attended Stanford Graduate School of Business. She earned her MBA in 2005 and moved to Minnesota to work for Medtronic Inc. where she held positions in NeuroVentures, Corporate Development, and as a cross-functional manager for Managed Ventricular Pacing.
In 2008, Sarah left Medtronic to form a life coaching business, Summit Venture Coaching. She also began writing, completing her first book, INSTRUCTIONS FOR LIVING: Lessons & Letters. In 2011, Sarah and her then husband welcomed twins Kalvin and Grace born via gestational surrogate. Eight weeks later, Sarah learned of their twins’ abuse by a serial international predatory night nurse. The resulting ordeals, including the twins’ treatment and recovery, the nurse’s arrest and protracted international criminal investigation, and the journey to heal her psychological and spiritual wounds—which for Sarah was companioned by a reining horse named Woody and a powerful relationship with her grandmother—are documented in Sarah’s second book, FAR FROM BROKEN: A Mother Unhorses Evil. She also recounted the experience in a podcast found here: Devil Is In The Details and in a speech found here: Choose Your Own Adventure.
In 2017, Sarah completed her third book, a short spiritual memoir called FORTY: Die To Be Reborn. Sarah is currently working on her fourth book, GOD’S LILA: Playing a Different Game.
Sarah loves spending time with her kids and friends. She loves hiking, skiing, writing, painting, reading, playing cello and tennis, sailing, snowshoeing, learning, and doing whatever Source moves her to do. She lives in Park City, Utah, with her ten-year-old twins Kalvin and Grace, one dog, one cat, one kitten, one horse, and two guinea pigs.
Enjoy Life, Be Light
Other stuff, Sarah is a happy introvert, but in her previous life, she had extensive public speaking and media experience, including keynote and motivational speeches for organizations including AT&T, Blue Cross Blue Shield, General Mills, and McDonald’s. She has appeared on Late Night With David Letterman and The Today Show multiple times, MTV, Lifetime, the Grammy Pre-Awards show, the cover of Parade Magazine, the front pages of the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, among others. She’s also been on the cover of a Wheaties’ Box and was a question on Jeopardy!, which the contestant correctly answered for $200. Phew.
